How to Perform 'Floating Money'

The magician removes a dollar bill from his wallet. He shows it to be real. He folds it and crumples it into a ball. He drops it... only it does not fall to the ground. It floats. And he proves no string is hidden in his hands.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • invisible thread
  • clear tape
  • cash

Step1
Measure the distance from your mouth to just below your knees.
Step2
Whatever number you measure, cut that much invisible thread off the spool. Invisible thread is a material magicians love because it CANNOT be seen even when looking right at it.
Step3
Spread out a dollar bill and lie the thread across it.
Step4
Tape the middle of the bill so the thread sticks.
Step5
Fold or crumple the dollar up so nobody can see the tape.
Step6
Place the end points of the thread in your mouth, like floss, and hit the streets.
Step7
Be dramatic. People cannot see invisible thread and will literally only see a weird guy walking around with money floating around him. Since the thread is in your mouth, you can show no string exists in your hands or sleeves.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not focus your routine around this. This is a trick that works great as a transition between those in a video, or as just something fun before a real money trick.
