Step 1
Obtain a Fictitious Business Name Statement from the county clerk in the county where your business is located.

Step 2
Fill out the statement and file it with the county clerk.

Step 3
Publish the statement with a general circulation newspaper in the county once a week for four consecutive weeks.

Step 4
File an affidavit of publication with the county clerk within 30 days of publication.

Step 5
Obtain the Assumed Name Certificate and file it with the secretary of state.

on 8/5/2009 In Texas, you need to file the assumed name certificate with the Texas secretary of state and with the county in which the principle place of busines is located. The SOS has a simple form that may be filed on-line. Each county will have its own form and procedure. www.doggettlawfirm.com
