How to date a gamer

Whether it's World of Warcraft, the newest game for the Nintendo Wii, or something else, it can be tough when your sweetheart has another love - gaming. Both computer games and console games can be the perpetrators, but there are things you can do to deal (and even enjoy) your sweetheart's other love.

• Quality time with Sweetie
• An open mind
• A few dollars

1. Realize that it is both normal and healthy for your snuggle-bunny to have some hobbies that don't involve you. There is no point in trying to get them to stop playing; as long as your honey is treating you well, gaming is no threat to your relationship.
2. Learn more about the game(s) that your sweetie is so obsessed with. In fact, get them to teach you! Ask lots of questions and try to learn as much as you can. Not only will this get you some quality time together, but you might even have fun.
3. Rent another game that is in the same vein as your honey's favorite. Bring it over, and you can both learn the new one together. They will be sure to appreciate your effort in trying to be a part of their hobby.
4. If it turns out that you hate gaming, get your own hobby. Instead of sitting around feeling embittered about being ignored, you can be doing something that you enjoy.
5. If your honey makes you feel that you come in second to Mario (or whoever it may be), tell them. Do not expect them to read your mind to find out why you hate their hobby. They may not even realize that you are feeling neglected.
