If you are serious about winning an eating contest, you need to prepare beforehand. Serious eating competitors begin training sometimes months in advance. Preparing your body in advance for consuming a large amount of food also protects you from suffering serious health consequences.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Clear everything with your doctor before entering an eating contest. He will base his recommendations on your current health and also let you know of any health dangers that you face by participating in an eating contest.
Step2
Practice beforehand. You have to improve your hand-eye coordination in order to put as much food in your mouth as quickly as possible. Every time you eat, lay out the food as if you are participating in an eating contest.
Step3
Drink a lot of water. To stretch the stomach, many food eating competitors drink large amounts of water in a short period of time. Some entrants drink a gallon of water at one sitting.
Step4
Eat more in the weeks and days leading up to the contest. Food items, like cabbage, are particularly helpful at expanding the stomach. On the actual day of the contest, eat very little.
Step5
Chew gum to strengthen your jaw. You need strong jaw muscles in order to chew the large amount of food found in an eating contest.

Tips & Warnings

  • You want to check with the contest holder about the rules of the eating competition beforehand. You also want to find out if paramedics will be nearby in the case of a medical emergency.
  • Keep up your exercise program while preparing for an eating contest. Otherwise, you can really pack on the pounds.
