People normally choose mundane time-passing hobbies such as working crossword puzzles and making needlepoint creations. The more adventurous individual usually selects bizarre show-stopping hobbies. Throwing fire is a trick of manipulating principles of nature. The person who masters the steps of this unusual skill holds the power to hold an audience spellbound.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 cigarette lighter
Step1
Sit at a table. Place the lighter on the table in front of you.
Step2
Extend your hand in front of you. Ball up your fist with the thumb facing you. Make sure the fist is airtight except the opening at the top.
Step3
Pick up the lighter with your other hand. Lay the lighter against the opening in your fist. Hold down the lighter's button for 2 to 3 seconds. Put gas into the opening at the top of your fist. Continue to keep the other hand balled up to hold the gas. Release the button to stop the gas flow.
Step4
Leave the lighter against your fist. Click the switch to light the lighter. Move the lighter immediately after it lights. Wait half a second.
Step5
Hold the fire for 5 to 6 seconds before opening your hand. Open your hand and look at the fire.
Step6
Squeeze your hand quickly to light the gas and make a fountain of fire.
Step7
Move your hand around to give the illusion of throwing fire. Congratulate yourself because you have mastered a new hobby that will amaze your friends.
Step8
Understand that the fire will burn itself out within seconds.

Tips & Warnings

  • It may take several attempts to light the gas in your hand.
  • Holding the gas open for less than 2 seconds will probably not give enough gas for a fire. Releasing gas for longer than 3 seconds will only waste gas.
  • The gas gets warm, but the trick does not burn your hand.
  • Throwing fire always looks better in a dark room.
  • Vary the amounts of gas to get different effects.
