How to Embed Flickr Slideshows

If you've always wanted to use all the photos from your Flickr account in a slideshow for your website, blog or Myspace page, there are 2 easy ways to do it. Flickr's official embed tool, SLiDR, allows you to enter information into text boxes and gives you the coding to place in the desired spot. Paul Stamatiou's code allows you to embed Flickr's own slideshow player onto your page.

    Instructions

    1. Use Flickr SLiDR

      • 1

Go to the Flickr SLiDR website (see Resources below).

      • 2

Enter in the URL of your Flickr user page, photoset or group into the first text box.

      • 3

Enter the tag name of any specifically tagged photos you want to appear in your slideshow in the second tag box. This is optional; you can leave it blank if you want all the photos in your account, set or group to appear.

      • 4

Enter the width in pixels that you wish your slideshow to appear on the page next to "Slideshow Width."

      • 5

Enter the height in pixels that you wish your slideshow to appear on the page next to "Slideshow Height."

      • 6

Check the box next to "Display Slideshow Preview" if you'd like to preview the results before continuing.

      • 7

Leave "Standards Compliance Mode" unchecked, unless you're experienced with html and wish to make the slideshow an object rather than an iframe.

      • 8

        Click "Create Slideshow."

      • 9

Select and copy all of the code that appears in the text box under "Code."

      • 10

Paste the code into the desired spot on your website, blog or Myspace editing page.

      Use the Paul Stamatiou Code

      • 1

Copy the following html code into the desired spot on your website, blog or Myspace editing page:

      • 2

Change the user_id within the above code to your Flickr id. If you don't know your Flickr id, use "idGettr" (see Resources).

      • 3

Replace "foo" within the above code to the tags of photos you want to include in the slideshow.

      • 4

Do the following step only if you want to use a photoset instead of a tagged set of photos. Replace "tags=" with "photoset_id=," then replace "foo" with the numbers at the end of a photoset in your Flickr account. For example, the photoset id in the URL "http://www.flickr.com/photos/username/sets/1234567/" would be "1234567."

      • 5

Adjust the width and height of the player by replacing "500" next to "width=" and "height=" in the above code with your desired size in pixels.

Thanks so much for these brilliantly written simple step by step instructions, they worked beautifully :) I am a complete beginner to Web 2.0 and so getting this to work and having a really slick slide show embedded in my blog has been a real confidence booster.
