Use these steps to learn more about both sedans and coupes and how to choose a sedan over a coupe for your family.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand the difference between a sedan and a coupe. Most sedans are 4-door and coupes are 2-door. Coupes also have the reputation of being faster and sportier, though this may not necessarily be true.

  2. Step 2

Visit the car manufacturer of your choice and compare the coupes and sedans they offer. You will find sedans have more passenger room, more cargo room and a more traditional style. One example of this is the Honda Accord, rated best family sedan by consumer reports.

  3. Step 3

Check Consumer Reports. They are the most well-known, unbiased product tester in the United States and can help you find the subtle difference between a coupe and a sedan to show you where the sedans pull ahead of the coupes.

  4. Step 4

Ask your friends and other trusted individuals for their take on sedans as opposed to coupes. Asking the very people that have made that choice themselves is a great place to start. Word of mouth is the foundation of sales in most product categories, including cars.
