How to Change a Sim's Appearance in Sims 2

Sims don't live forever in Sims 2 and neither do their appearances. If you feel it's time for a new look for your Sim, just about anything is doable. You can't change the genetics--the shape of his nose, color of his eyes and color of his skin must remain the same. But hair color and hairdos are all changeable. You can even add makeup to your women and facial hair to your men.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Purchase a mirror and place in a convenient location. Any mirror will do; the cheapest mirror available is the Reflective Glass Mirror for 100 Simoleons.
Step2
Click on the mirror with the Sim whose appearance you would like to change active. Select "Change Appearance."
Step3
Look at the tabs and available options on the appearance window. A picture of your Sim is on the left of the screen and that will enable you to preview changes as you decide what to do with her appearance.
Step4
Select the various tabs and options to change your Sim's hair color, hairstyle, and eyebrows. You can also add makeup, costume makeup, and glasses. This feature also allows you to add stubble and facial hair to your male Sims.

Tips & Warnings

  • Even though toddlers are not able to go to the mirror themselves to change their appearance, an adult can go to the mirror and select "Change [Toddler's Name's] Appearance." The Sim will pick up the toddler and carry him to the mirror.
  • Even though you can change your Sims' hair color, you can't change the genetic code for this feature. If your Sim is born with red hair and you change it to brown, she could still produce children with red hair.
