Take stock of your surroundings. This is key for several reasons. You could offend people around you, or you may unintentionally hit someone with your flying ball of saliva. Once you have ascertained your surroundings and found that you are either in a safe environment or that no one is close enough to hit, then you can begin physically preparing.

Gather as much saliva in your mouth as you can. A good spit requires a lot of natural juices. You may have to work some up in your mouth for quite a while. Some people snort snot from their nose to combine with the saliva. Most spitting enthusiasts classify this as a "loogie."

Gather all of the saliva and whatnot on the front of your tongue and purse your lips. Make a small opening in your lips and blow as hard as possible.

Tips & Warnings
If there is water or any other kind of liquid nearby, drink some to get your mouth salivating. If you want, you can use this liquid to spit, but it's not quite as authentic.
