If you live in a small apartment or an RV, then a portable washing machine may be one of the best appliances you have come across. They are not only very affordable but environmentally friendly too. Follow these steps to install a portable washing machine.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Unpack the portable washing machine from the manufacturer's box. Make certain that no extra paperwork or parts are left inside the box before recycling it.

  2. Step 2

Screw the metal pan to the frame. Be sure it is convex. Be aware that the screws come close to a clamp that holds the goose-neck drain tube.

  3. Step 3

Place the portable washing machine near a sink in either the kitchen or bathroom. The machine is light enough that it can be kept in a closet if needed. Otherwise choose a location with plenty of room for it to remain permanently to avoid having to move it often.

  4. Step 4

Attach the drainage tube with the enclosed clamp. Tighten the clamp down with a wrench for a good, tight fit. If the clamp is not tight enough, you may end up with a leak and water on the floor.

  5. Step 5

Hang the drainage hose between 32 and 40 inches high. This will allow the tub to fill with enough water. If the hose is not high enough, the water will only go as high as the hose is.

  6. Step 6

Plug the portable washing machine into the wall. Attach the drainage tube to the sink with the adapter, which should be included with the portable washing machine. You are now ready to wash the first of many loads of laundry.
