1
Paint on glass with stained-glass paints. After painting them, you should heat the decorated pieces in a kiln for about 12 minutes to help the paint set.
-
2
Use foils to create color on your glass. Foil usually has an adhesive on one side to help you adhere the color before firing.

3
Purchase metallic salts to add to your molten glass. Roll the hot glass in the salt crystals and put them back into the kiln. The crystals will melt down into the glass, creating the color you want.

Know your chemistry. Certain elements added to Spruce Pine batch and Borax can create different colors. Cobalt produces a brilliant blue hue, while gold creates a red. Chromium is often credited with greens, but can create a variety of other tones. Mixing elements gives you endless possible color combinations. Results aren't always reliable, however, so you'll need to experiment a bit to get the right color.

Save yourself time and effort by purchasing colored glass from major manufacturers. This will save you time, money and possibly your eyebrows since you won't have to play chemist.
