Things You'll Need:
- Nintendo DS
-
Step 1
Insert the Pokemon Diamond game into your DS and turn on the unit's power. Select the game from the menu screen and press the A-button. It will start.
-
Step 2
Start a new game, and you will be asked several questions that will help pick your character's gender, name and arch-rival's name. You will also be given the option to learn about some of the game's basic controls.
-
Step 3
Select your first Pokemon after playing and watching the first few screens. You have a choice between Turtwig (a grass Pokemon), Chimchar (a fire one) and Piplup (the water Pokemon). Unlike previous games, Diamond is fairly balanced, so none of the starting Pokemon will make the game significantly harder or easier to play.
-
Step 4
Learn about how different Pokemon evolve in the Diamond edition. Some will still evolve when they reach a certain level, but now there are other requirements for some Pokemon. These new features involve evolutions that are dependent on giving the Pokemon a special stone, increasing its happiness and trading it back and forth with another player.
-
Step 5
Look to catch the Pokemon that are exclusive to the Diamond version. These monsters include Dialga, Stunky, Honchkrow and Cranidos. The different evolutions of these Pokemon are also only available in Diamond.
-
Step 6
Play your friends with the DS' Wi-Fi connection if you get bored with the story mode. This feature will automatically try and match the levels of both players' Pokemon, so that the battle is as balanced as possible.
