This is a very common sense approach to this question so many people find difficult.

  • A place to walk/jog/run
  • Weights (optional)
  • Willpower!
  1. Step 1

    The first thing to do is fast for no more than three days. The fast will reset your metabolism to a good state and will obviously help you lose a little weight as you will not take in calories. The major benefit is the detoxification you get. This is because during a fast your body flushes out bad toxins that store up in excess fat, and when this is burned and new toxins are not taken in your body cleans them out. Only drink water during the fast. You may experience headaches or stomachache during the fast, this is normal. If you experience any health problems or extreme pain, eat some soup and salad, maybe drink some juice or a v8.

  2. Step 2

    The next step is excersize. Just walking will dramatically change your life and rejuvenate your body. Jog or run in your spare time. Do sit ups/crunches and other ab excersises to tone your muscles and burn fat. Push ups will also burn fat and keep your upper body in shape. If you have weights use them! If you don't, I encourage you to buy some. Just a couple of dumbbells will greatly help. Just remember to keep using them. Weightlifting is a great way to burn fat and build muscle. The most important thing though is to walk or run at least a mile a day.

  3. Step 3

    The last step is mere common sense. The diet. All you have to do is cut out any kind of junk food (especially fast food), and soda. This is imperative. Coffee is also not recommended and I recommend tea as a replacement. The most important item of this whole article is not fast food, soda, or junk food. I am not saying to go out and spend a million dollars at a health food store. Just buy some fruits or veggies at whatever market your usually go to in place of soda or potato chips.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not jump right into the fast! Start weaning yourself off soda and coffee or other caffeinated beverages so you do not get caffeine headaches.
  • Eat a little less in the weeks leading up to your fast so you stomach can shrink. Also do not eat a large meal before the fast because that will expand your stomach and you will be hungrier.
  • Ween off the fast as well, do not eat a large meal or you will get a stomachache. Eat a soup and/or salad and keep drinking only water for about a week after.
  • Park your car farther away than normal at store so you can get a little more walking time in.
  • If you live one to three miles or less from work/school you should walk or ride a bike to work/school.
  • If you are religious during the fast you should pray or meditate in place of eating during the fast.
  • Do not fast if you have any condition or illness that will make fasting more difficult than normal.
  • The fast is meant to be weaned into not jumped into.
