Here is an easy way to remove rust stains from bathtubs and sinks!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • toilet bowl cleaner
  • bucket of water
  • clean rags
  1. Step 1

The first thing you will do is make sure the area to be cleaned is dry. If the area is wet it will dilute the cleaner.

  2. Step 2

Next you will want to pour toilet bowl cleaner directly on the area to be cleaned. Be sure the cleaner doesn't make contact with your skin. If contact does occur be sure to thoroughly wash your hands right away!

  3. Step 3

Once you pour the cleaner directly on the area you will see the rust fading away and may even see the toilet bowl cleaner turning yellow. Take a toilet bowl brush and scrub the rest of the stain away. You may need to add more cleaner to completely remove.

  4. Step 4

Once the stain is gone be sure to completely rinse the area before using.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always be careful while using toilet bowl cleaner it is very dangerous if it comes in contact with your skin.

on 8/25/2009 Very useful indeed but I do not think it covers all types of stains. I have found a very useful white paper in this respect which covers different types of stains, their cause and remedies. It can be downloaded from:

on 3/18/2008 Really works!! Thanks..after trying sooo many different cleansers, I can't believe this worked so well! My hosue is almost 100 and I think the tub must be 50-60 years old. I never thought I'd be able to use this tub.
