How to Search for Spare Change Around the House

Everyone can scrounge up a dollar or two by searching for spare change around the house, but if you conduct your search in the right places, you have the potential to find a whole lot more. Follow these steps to find fistfuls of change lurking in unexpected places around your home.

Instructions

1. Head to the spot where you're most likely to empty out your pockets at the end of the day. Look on the floor, under furniture cushions and inside objects close by this location.

2. Remove the cushions from sofas and chairs in frequently used rooms. When people recline, change in their pockets tends to fall out and find its way beneath the cushions.

3. Look under the seats in your car, and beneath the floor mats. Change inevitably falls from your grasp or from cupholders when you're paying tolls or purchasing food from drive-through restaurants.

4. Open the doors to your washing machine and dryer and search the wells for change left inside the pockets of clothes.

5. Search along the floor in your coat closet. If any of the jackets or sweaters hanging there have holes in the pockets, the floor is likely to have change sitting on it.

6. Run your hand along the bottom of your purse or bag. Change usually located in change purses often escapes when you're digging for a specific coin.
