Step 1
Determine which carrier shipped and handled your package. Most parcels are shipped through USPS, UPS, DHL, or FedEx.
-
Step 2
Find out if your package included a tracking number. If it did, this can be a valuable piece of information that will help you find your package sooner.
-
Step 3
Go to the website of your carrier. Find the 'locate' or 'track' link that will take you to the correct page to insert your tracking number. This will let you know where your package currently is. Hopefully, it is only in transition and not really lost.
-
Step 4
Call the carrier location where your package is supposed to be and ask the employees there to see if they can locate your package or if they have a record of it shipping out. You may need to provide them with your tracking number and explain that the carrier's website claims that the package is supposed to be at that location.

Step 5
Locate the lost parcel customer-care line provided by your carrier. The best way to find this is to check your carrier's website. They will work with you to help find the package. They will determine if it is truly lost, misplaced or simply delayed for some reason. They will also work with you on any insurance claim you may make against the value of the package, if it cannot be found.
