How to Make a Tyvek Wallet
If you are a person who hates to waste anything, you are going to love learning how to make a wallet from an old Tyvek envelope. Tyvek is such super-duty paper it's almost impossible to tear. Yet as a wallet, the Tyvek is lightweight and adds no bulk to your pocket.
Things You'll Need
- 1 large Tyvek envelope
- Craft knife
- Credit card
- Dollar bill
- Staples, tape or glue

1
Determine whether you want to make a bi-fold wallet or a tri-fold. The tri-fold wallet is just a bit longer and has slots for three credit cards rather than the two slots in the bi-fold.
-
2
Decide if you want the inside or the outside of the envelope to show. If you use an old FedEx or USPS mailer, you may want to design around their logos. If you use the plain side, you can use markers to create your own artwork.

3
Cut off the flap. Save it for another Tyvek project.
-
4
Fold the envelope to a width slightly wider than a credit card. Fold the remaining third. Tuck the narrow piece behind the wider piece. If you are making the plain version, turn the envelope wrong side out before you do this step.
-
5
Measure the length of the tri-fold wallet. Lay a dollar bill on the long piece of envelope with a credit card placed vertically at the end of the bill. Allow ½ inch on each end. Cut any excess. For the bi-fold, omit the credit card.
-
6
Staple, tape or glue the ends.
-
7
Mark slots for the credit card holders. Gently press the craft knife into the marks. Repeat the gentle cutting motion until you make the complete the cut. Only cut the top layer of envelope. Put your money and credit cards into your wallet.
