How to Block a Bidder From an EBay Auction

Although blocking bidders from your eBay auctions might sound like it would be bad for business, there are times when it is necessary. Whenever you have a winning bidder on an auction that fails to pay for their purchase, it is a good idea to block them from bidding on any of your auctions in the future.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Log into your eBay Sellers Account and go to your main "My eBay" page.

  2. Step 2

Scroll down the column on the left side of the page, which is titled "My eBay Views" until you find the subsection called "Related Links." Click on the word "More" at the bottom of the list.

  3. Step 3

Click on "Block or Pre-Approve Bidders." You will find this under the category "Managing Items" in the center of the page.

  4. Step 4

Choose "Add eBay User to my Blocked Bidder/Buyer List."

  5. Step 5

Type in the eBay User ID of the bidder you wish to block from your auctions and click the "Submit" button. Watch for accuracy when typing the ID. User names on eBay are sometimes seemingly random numbers and letters, and are easy to make mistakes with. A more accurate way to add a bidder to the list is to copy the user ID onto your clipboard from the auction they won and then paste it onto the blocked bidder list.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you file a non-payment with eBay against a non-paying bidder, they will give you the option of placing the bidder onto your Blocked Bidder List. If you haven't already blocked them, it is a good idea to do it at that time.
  • If the issue you are having with the bidder gets resolved and you want him to be able to bid on future auctions, don't forget to remove him from the Blocked Bidder List. You can do this the same way that you put him on the list, only removing the name instead of adding it.

on 8/1/2009 Hi, Supercuteali,

I'm not 100% sure but I think add those sellers to your blocked bidders/buyers list will do that.

on 8/1/2009 EBay sellers can get a trusted blocked bidders/buyers list for free at www.trustedblacklist.com. Sellers can also report misbehaving buyers there. Unlike other sites who accept any report, trustedblacklist.com validates EVERY report thus its blacklist is trusted.
