How to Download LimeWire

LimeWire is a free utility for sharing files over the Internet. It's similar to the Napster peer-to-peer sharing format. LimeWire allows its users to share files, music, DVDs, images and more. All you have to do is download, install and then share. Here's how to download and install LimeWire.

To Install Now

1. Go to the LimeWire website, and download LimeWire setup file.

2. Click the "Get Basic" download option for the free version of LimeWire, and agree not to use LimeWire for copyright infringement.

3. Decide on the proper platform for installation. The platform choices are Windows, Mac, Linux, OS/2 and Solaris.

4. Select either "Run" or "Save" from the "File Download" window. If you don't intend to install LimeWire at this time, skip to the next section "For Later Installation" instructions. Otherwise, move on to the next step.

5. Pick your desired language, and click "OK."

6. Choose a file destination, or accept the default and click "Next."

7. Run the LimeWire software to begin downloading files.

For Later Installation

8. Save the LimeWire setup file to your computer hard drive or disc.

9. Navigate to the saved LimeWire setup file when you are ready to install the software.

10. Double-click on the file to begin the installation process.

11. Select the desired language, and click "OK."

12. Choose a file destination, or accept the default and click "Next."

13. Run the LimeWire software to begin downloading files.

Tips & Warnings

• When downloading the software to install at a later date or time, make a note where you downloaded the file to make it easier to access it when necessary.
• Don't use LimeWire if you intend to violate copyright infringement laws.
