How to Edit Word 2007 Quick Styles

The Quick Styles feature in Word 2007 allows you to change fonts, spacing and headings on the fly while working inside a document. Edit these items inside a Quick Style so you can easily move through selections while creating the document itself. The feature saves mouse clicks and moving frequently to the toolbar to find what you need.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the 4-square icon on the top right-hand side of the screen to open a new Word 2007 document, or an existing file. Click on it.

    • 2

Make sure the view of the page is set to the "Home" tab. This is the first tab you see moving from left to right on the toolbar.

    • 3

Look for the "Quick Style" area on the toolbar on the right-hand side of the page. You then see two capital letter As with the words "Change Styles" underneath.

    • 4

Click on the arrow underneath "Change Styles." Then select "Style Set." By using the mouseover on each style name, you can see the Word 2007 document change in a preview.

    • 5

Edit inside the Quick Style by using the boxes to the left. For instance, you can choose from "Normal" paragraph setting, a setting with no spacing, various headings or title fonts. Simply click on these.

    • 6

Use the tools on the left-hand side of the "Home" tab to manually edit the "Quick Style" setting inside Word 2007. Here you can change font, font size, bold, italics and underline as in previous versions of Word.

  • Use the "Help" function in Word 2007 for step-by-step instructions on saving changes to your Quick Styles, or finding more styles to consider.

  • Always look at the bottom of the pulldown menu under "Style Set." This directs you to saving changes or restoring default settings.
