How to Download a SNES Emulator

Super Nintendo is an old but popular video game system. However, you don't need a Super Nintendo system to enjoy its games. You can download a SNES emulator and play your favorite Super Nintendo games on your home computer. Follow these steps to complete the download.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the ZSNES homepage and select your operating system among the choices in the ZSNES Blip box located on the left side of the page.

    • 2

Choose "Save to Disk" when the window prompt appears. Click "OK" to save the file to your desktop.

    • 3

Right-click the ZSNES151 icon that is now located on your desktop. Extract the file to a ZSNES151 folder using your favorite extractor program. Winzip or WinRar work well.

    • 4

Double-click the ZSNES151 folder that is now on your desktop. Double-click the "zsnesw" icon to launch ZSNES.

    • 5

Click the "CONFIG" button at the top of the ZSNES window, and then click "INPUT." You can set up a gamepad or your keyboard in the window that pops up.

    • 6

Select a ROM file to play on your new SNES emulator by clicking "GAME," and then "LOAD." The game starts automatically.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a gamepad with a similar button setup to a Super Nintendo controller.

  • You must download ROM files to play on your SNES emulator. These files act like original Super Nintendo games.

  • Some ROMs may be illegal. Email the maker of the game to check if you can legally play it.

  • ZSNES may not be compatible with all operating systems.
