Nothing evokes the sense of autumn like the taste of fresh apple cider. The state of Washington is the largest producer of apples in the country, which means apple cider is a state specialty. Here are a few tips on where to buy Washington's best.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit washingtonapplecountry.com. This tourism site is sponsored by several farms in Washington. On the site, you can browse different orchards and find information on locations, tours and tastings of fresh Washington apple cider.

  2. Step 2

Swing by orondociderworks.com. This is another fine Washington orchard that allows you to watch the apples as they are pressed. After taking a tour, you can buy apple goodies such as jams, juices, ciders pies and more. This is a great place to take the family for the day to go apple picking, and then take a tour of the orchard.

  3. Step 3

Go to the supermarket. Albertson's and Safeway are two of the bigger chains in the state. Washington apple cider is usually pressed and sold from early September through November. You will also be able to find cider in your smaller "mom and pop" stores as well.

  4. Step 4

Check out the fairs in Washington State. Since many fairs take place in autumn, they sell apple cider. Dunk a fresh apple cider donut in a cup of hot mulled apple cider and you are sure to be in Heaven. Check out thefair.com and wastatefair.com for more information.
