Dutch braided hair is like French braided hair except the Dutch braid sits on top of the hair. A good Dutch braid can look great if it is done correctly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wide-tooth comb
  • Rubber band (or ponytail holder)
  • Spray bottle
  1. Step 1

Take a lock of hair and separate it from the rest of the hair at the point where the braids will begin.

  2. Step 2

Take the lock of hair and divide it equally into 3 strands.

  3. Step 3

Cross the strand on the right under the strand in the middle.

  4. Step 4

Cross the strand on the left going under the strand in the middle.

  5. Step 5

Choose a section of the hair on the right side of the head, and then add the section that is already on the right hand side.

  6. Step 6

Cross the right hand strand of hair and go under the middle strand.

  7. Step 7

Get the section of hair from the left side of the person's head, and then add it to the strand that is already on the left side.

  8. Step 8

Cross the strand of hair on the left side under the middle strand.

  9. Step 9

Steps 5-8 should be repeated until you reach the base of the person's scalp. Keep repeating this pattern until you get to the end of the person's hair.

  10. Step 10

When you get to the end, tie it off. You can do this by tying the hair with elastic or by putting a tight bow at the end of the person's hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before starting to Dutch braid, make sure the person's hair is clean and well brushed. If the hair is dirty or tangled, the Dutch braid will not look as good.
