With all of the of PowerBook, iBook and MacBook models on the market, how do you know which Apple laptop to buy? If you are trying to make this decision, there are a few things to consider that should help you choose the Apple laptop for you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Select the 5 lb., 12-inch iBook if you are looking for the most economical Apple laptop. This laptop comes in the classic Apple white and is loaded with a decent amount of software, run by the powerful Tiger operating system. It's a very good deal, considering it comes with 512 MB of RAM and at least a 40 GB hard drive.
Step2
Pick the 6 lb., 14-inch iBook, if you love everything about the 12-inch iBook apart from the screen size. You'll pay a few hundred dollars more, but the ease on your eyes may be worth it.
Step3
Get more bang for your buck with the PowerBook, if you need more features than the iBook can offer. The PowerBook comes complete with a faster processor, a higher quality graphics card and more ports and connections. You'll pay a bit more for this powerful laptop, but if you are a professional needing maximum processing power, this is the choice for you. The PowerBook comes in three sizes: 12, 15 and 17 inches.
Step4
Buy a MacBook if you want to pump up your digital life. This laptop comes with a built-in camera, iLife and a supercharged 13-inch display. The price and design are comparable to the iBook, but when picking a MacBook you have a choice of colors.
Step5
Go with the compact yet powerful MacBook Pro if you travel a lot with your laptop. Available in 15 or 17 inch models, the MacBook Pro is only one inch thick and only weighs about 5.6 lbs. This MacBook has the most advanced graphics system of all Apple laptops, so if graphics are what you are looking for, this is the Apple for you.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are looking to shave a few dollars off the price of your Apple laptop, buy the 12 inch version of any model, as you can easily plug the laptop into a monitor or television screen while working at home. The portability and lightweight design is a great advantage when traveling or trying to carry a laptop inconspicuously.
