You can easily make your own secure computer network using LogMeIn Hamachi. Hamachi allows remote access from any computer on your network to any other networked computer. It works without disturbing your existing firewalls or routers. The basic service is free.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download Hamachi from its website (see Resources below). Use the default prompts to install it. Prepare to reboot your computer. Hamachi assigns you an IP address for you to use on the Hamachi network.

  2. Step 2

Install Hamachi on all the computers you plan to network at the same time, if possible. It's the most efficient way to install the program and makes the IPs you receive close in number.

  3. Step 3

Set up your network. Click on the button with the triangle at the bottom of the program. A dialog box opens that asks you to name your network. Create a password for your network as well. Click on "Create."

  4. Step 4

Add other computers to your network. Once again, click on the button with the triangle at the bottom of the program. Enter the network name and password in the dialog box that opens. Click "Join" and your computer becomes part of the network. Repeat this with each computer you plan to add to your network.

  5. Step 5

Watch for green lights on the Hamachi control panel. This indicates who has a good connection and who's available online. Yellow lights indicate a weak connection, and red lights indicate that computer is offline.

  6. Step 6

Take your computer out of someone else's network by right clicking the Hamachi menu. Click "Leave Network."
