Have you ever seen someone at a bar or on the street pick up a bottle cap and effortlessly fire it from their fingertips at alarming speed? If you haven't seen it done, it is not only an entertaining party trick but also a means for getting people's attention.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bottle cap
  1. Step 1

Inspect your bottle cap, make sure that it is still plenty circular. This is crucial for the trick because if the cap is too warped (either from the process of removing it from the bottle or some other reason) it will not fly particularly well.

  2. Step 2

Pinch the bottle cap with the ridged bottom facing down between your middle finger and your thumb. You should be able to feel the ridges of the bottle cap pressed against your thumb.

  3. Step 3

Position your middle finger so that it is still applying downward pressure to the bottle cap so that it stays firmly on your thumb, but also so that it is behind the bottle cap. This is important because this is where the lateral thrust is going to come from.

  4. Step 4

Aim, which will take a little bit of getting used to since it is different from person to person. Some people always deviate a bit to the left or right, while others have a tendency to fire downwards.

  5. Step 5

Snap your fingers. This should send the bottle cap flying in the fashion of a Frisbee.

Tips & Warnings
  • Aim away from people's eyes. Although a bottle cap may seem small, it can definitely cause damage to eyes.
