There is nothing like an old letter to give a vintage look and feel. Replicate a vintage envelope by using simple materials, many you likely have on hand. With a bit of practice, making vintage envelopes can be quick and easy. Tie a bunch together with brown ribbon for an elegant and pretty package.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Parchment paper
  • Envelope stencil
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Bone folder
  • Glue stick
  • Brown ink
  • Ink sponges
  • Brown pen
  • Paper with vintage letter print
  • Vintage stamps
  1. Step 1

Trace the envelope template onto several pieces of parchment paper. Cut out the shapes.

  2. Step 2

Use a bone folder to make the crease lines in the envelope. Leave the edges unfolded.

  3. Step 3

Place the parchment paper cut outs on a cookie sheet so that they do not touch. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 10 to15 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool.

  4. Step 4

Fold each paper into an envelope after it has cooled. Use a glue stick to glue all but one flap down.

  5. Step 5

Fold a piece of paper that has old style letters and slide it in the envelope. Glue the top flap closed.

  6. Step 6

Put a vintage stamp in the upper right hand corner. Stipple the edges with a sponge and brown ink.

  7. Step 7

Dust the envelope with baby powder to take away the waxy texture. Address the envelope with brown ink.

Tips & Warnings
  • If using unbleached parchment paper it is not necessary to bake the paper, it is already brown. Bleached parchment gives the best results.
  • Remove excess powder with a soft brush.
  • Over baking the paper will cause it to crumble.
