    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • An empty jar
    • 2 tablespoons of corn starch
    • 1 cup of light corn syrup
    • A fork
    • ½ cup cold water
    • 15 to 20 drops of red food coloring
    • A microwave
      • 1

Put two tablespoons of corn starch into an empty jar.

      • 2

Pour in a small amount of corn syrup and mix it together with the corn starch with a fork until you get a thick liquid mixture. This will prevent you from having lumpy blood.

      • 3

Add the rest of the corn syrup slowly, stirring as you go until you've added one cup of syrup. Stir it until you have a good consistency.

      • 4

Add about half a cup of cold water and stir the mixture well.

      • 5

Add 15 drops of red food coloring. Stir up the blood and add a little more if you would like it to be a deeper red.

      • 6

Cover the jar and heat the blood in the microwave on high for about two minutes. Watch it as it heats and stop the microwave just as it starts to boil.

      • 7

Stir the mixture again and allow it to cool completely.

      • 8

Make a label for your jar to create a great Halloween decoration. Write "Dracula's Blood" on a strip of white paper with a marker and tape it on the side of the jar.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Pour some blood into a squeeze bottle so you can easily apply it to costumes and decorations.

    • If you don't have food coloring, poster paint will do. Experiment with the color by mixing red, yellow and blue paint until you make the blood the color you desire.

    • This mixture will attract flies in the heat so if you are using it as part of your Halloween costume it is best applied on Halloween night right before you go out to a party or trick or treating.
