1
Make sure your spurs have all of their parts. In addition to the metal spur, you need straps or chains for attaching the spurs to your boots.
-
2
Fit your boot heel into the U-shape of the spur. The spur should rest at the top of the heel, where it meets the body of the boot.

3
Attach the strap or chain. Every models of spurs attach slightly differently. Generally, the strap or chain connects at the ankles and comes around the front of the boot, holding the spurs in place. Some spurs include another strap or chain that runs underneath the boot, near the heel.

Check for snugness before you get on your horse. The spurs should rest where you placed them without slipping or wobbling. If they move at all, tighten the straps or chains until they fit flush with your boots.

Tips & Warnings
Tack stores that sell spurs usually sell spur straps, or can order them for you. Bring your spurs with you when you shop for straps to make sure you get the right kind.
If you have trouble attaching your spurs, ask for a demonstration at your local tack store or from another person who wears the same type of spurs.
If you use your spurs on your horse, be gentle. The spurs should just act as a clearer signal for your horse and shouldn't be used to punish her or frighten her into doing what you ask.
