How to Enter the Miss Universe Pageant

The Miss Universe Pageant is a prestigious event—one that you can't just be accepted or invited to enter. To enter the pageant you must first win several qualifying competitions. Win the numerous primary pageants and you'll have successfully entered the Miss Universe Pageant.

Instructions

1. Learn the categories. During the Miss Universe Pageant—and all pageants leading up to the event—you'll compete in the following categories: Personal Interview, Swimsuit Competition and Evening Gown Competition.

2. Apply to the Miss State USA Pageant. All states require a photo and application but some also request an interview. Navigate this process successfully and you'll be asked to enter your Miss State USA Pageant.

3. Win your Miss State USA Pageant. Once you're crowned Miss Wyoming, for example, you'll have earned the right to move on to the Miss USA Pageant.

4. Win the Miss USA Pageant. This is not an easy task. However, winning will mean you're eligible to move on and enter the Miss Universe Pageant.

5. Be prepared to represent the title of Miss USA. Whether or not you win the Miss Universe Pageant, you'll be required to spend a year touring the United States, possibly the world, for speaking engagements.

• Each country represented in the Miss Universe Pageant follows a different process to choose the delegate. The steps above detail how to enter from the United States.
• You must be between the ages of 18 and 27 as of February 1 the year of the national competition to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant. Other requirements include being single, never having been married and having no children.
