The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is the fastest growing televised sport and the second most popular sport on television next to NFL football. NASCAR is always fun to watch, and you can always count on some intense excitement. Read on to learn how to follow NASCAR racing.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Know some information about the races. The three biggest racing series of NASCAR are the Busch Series, the Nextel Cup and the Craftsman Truck Series. The races, which run from February to November, are typically several hundred miles and last anywhere from two to three hours. The cars include: Dodge Chargers, Ford Fusions, Chevrolet Monte Carlos or Toyota Camrys.
Step2
Understand how a winner is determined. Each season the points are tallied after each race. Those drivers who win or come in other places get certain points. The driver with the most points at the end is the champion. In the Nextel Cup Series, only the top 10 drivers (within 400 points of the leader) are eligible to win the championship.
Step3
Visit the NASCAR website. Check out details on standings, highlights, schedules, information on drivers and videos. This website offers a great way to follow the current status of all aspects of the sport.
Step4
Hang out with other fans. Gain tons of information about the sport from other big fans by either asking questions or listening to them talk and cheer. Enlist in a fan club and really get an overload of information from true followers.
Step5
Choose a driver to cheer on. Then read books and magazines about NASCAR and your specific race car driver. Reading about your driver's early career and background will allow you to follow racing with ease.
