How to Format a Toolbar in a Spreadsheet

Toolbars in spreadsheets are very standardized and sometimes do not contain the icons which you would like to use. The easiest way to correct this is to format the toolbar to the icons that you do use. This is much easier than having to go to the menu every time you want to use a particular command. The following will teach you how to format a toolbar in a spreadsheet.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Go to "Tools" and then "Customize." This may be different for spreadsheet software other than Excel; however, every software is similar--you just need to know what command your software uses.
Step2
Find the command you are looking for. For this example, we will look for "Save as." The "Save as" command is under the "File" menu.
Step3
Add it to the toolbar by picking it up the icon representing "Save as" and placing it on the toolbar. You can place it anywhere you choose on the toolbar and it will stay there.
Step4
Get rid of the icons you don't want. Even though we have just placed "Save as" on the toolbar, we decide we don't want after all. Just pick it up again and drop it anywhere on the screen and it will be gone.
Step5
Continue to add and delete icons that you want or don't want from the toolbar. The hardest part is finding the icons representing the commands you want on your toolbar. Click "Close" when you are done.
Step6
You can also find this under "View," "Toolbars" and then "Customize." You can only add and delete items on the toolbar when you are in the Customize mode.
