How to Automatically Start a PowerPoint Presentation

While you are preparing a presentation with PowerPoint, you might try to make it start automatically. Just set up everything you need, including your program, viewer and screen in the front of the conference room and kepp your notes handy.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Prepare the presentation to convey your message. Open the PowerPoint program and begin a new presentation page by clicking the new page icon.

  2. Step 2

    Select your title slide from the template that appears to the right. Set it up with text that tells what you are presenting and graphics that go well with the subject.

  3. Step 3

    Insert as many other slides as you need to make your PowerPoint presentation. Add text, tables and graphics as needed.

  4. Step 4

    Set your background colors and design. To do this, select "format" then "slide design." When the slide design options appear to the right, double click the one you want to use for all of the slides.

  5. Step 5

    Add other effects such as slide transitions. The PowerPoint slide show will start automatically at a specific time when you choose "Slide Show" then "Slide Transition."

  6. Step 6

    Choose "Advance Slide" then select "automatically." You will be able to enter the number of seconds you want the presentation to wait before starting again. Set the first slide to start after 30-60 seconds, but the others will need to start after one or two seconds. Another option is to select "slide show," then "set up show," and select the "loop continuously" option.

  7. Step 7

    Save a copy of the presentation to your desktop if you want to be able to start it automatically with just a mouse click. When you are ready to start the program for your audience, just reach over with your mouse and double click the icon.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any time you are ready to close the presentation, just right click your mouse and choose "end show."
