A popular stitch when you crochet is the cluster stitch. A cluster stitch is a stitch that is joined closely at the top and not at the bottom. You can create this stitch by using double or triple crochets. Several variations of this stitch exist and you determine the number of stitches you use to do your cluster stitch based on the pattern you are currently using.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take the yarn over the hook, or yarn over (yo) in crocheting terms. Insert the hook into the next stitch (st) to your left. Remember you always crochet to your left unless otherwise stated in your instructions.

  2. Step 2

Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over again. You now have three loops on your hook. Pull through the first two on the hook.

  3. Step 3

Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch in the row.

  4. Step 4

Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over yet again. You should now have four loops on your hook. Pull through the first two. The result is two double crochets that are almost complete.

  5. Step 5

Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch.

  6. Step 6

Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on your hook again. This leaves you with three double crochets that are almost complete.

  7. Step 7

Yarn over and pull through all four remaining loops on the hook. This completes a 3 doubles cluster stitch.
