Step 1
Replace all other drinks with water. Replacing drinks like colas or juices with water boosts your water intake and eliminates the sugars and artificial flavorings those drinks contain. If you must continue drinking coffee or tea to stay alert, add a glass of water for every cup of coffee or tea that you drink.

Step 2
Get a permanent water bottle, like a Nalgene bottle. Regularly fill your bottle so that you are constantly drinking water throughout the day.
-
Step 3
Make a daily minimum for glasses of water. Figure out approximately how much water you are drinking each day and then add roughly 10 to 20 percent to your daily water intake. Spread the drinking throughout the day, but skew the majority of the water intake to the morning and afternoon hours.

Step 4
Flavor the water. Some people get tired of drinking glass after glass of water and find that adding a flavored nutritional supplement helps them increase their daily water drinking levels. Find a low calorie flavor powder to add flavor to the drink, or squeeze no-calorie lemon or lime juice into your water.
