How to Visit the Toledo Zoo
The Toledo Zoo, opened in 1900, is one of the oldest zoos in the United States. The 51-acre park, located just south of downtown Toledo, Ohio, features more than 4800 animals of 700 species. Purchase tickets. Tickets to the Toledo Zoo are available at the zoo's ticket desk. Discounts are offered for those 60 and older and children two- to 11-years-old. Children under two and active military members (with ID) are admitted free of charge. In addition, Lucas County residents are admitted free (with ID) on non-holiday Mondays, from 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The Toledo Zoo is open every day, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

View the animal exhibits. The Toledo Zoo features 19 viewing areas, including an African Savannah, the Hippoquarium, Frog Town and the Arctic Encounter. A children's zoo is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day and gives young visitors a chance to learn about--and touch--a variety of barnyard animals.

Attend a zoo event. The Toledo Zoo hosts a wide variety of special events throughout the year. Included are summer concerts, kids discovery days, "Pumpkin Patch and Little Boo" Halloween events and the holiday classic, "Lights Before Christmas." There is always something going on at the Toledo Zoo.

Be a Zoo Pal. The Toledo Zoo offers supporters a chance to sponsor a zoo animal. Sponsors receive a certificate, a polar bear plush toy, a Zoo Pal pin and pen and an invitation to a special annual Zoo Pal reception--and, of course, they contribute to the care of their designated zoo animal.
