2. Explore the savings available by purchasing multiple services from your cable provider. Many cable companies offer discounts if you sign up for Internet or telephone services. You will need to compare the cost of all of your services with the cable provider to the combined cost of maintaining service with separate providers.

3. Keep an eye out for special promotions. Cable companies often advertise on television, on the Internet or through the mail. You can find offers for reduced service costs for multiple months.

4. Keep track of your cable viewing habits. You may not watch all of the channels to which you subscribe. Signing up for a smaller cable package will let you save money on your cable costs.

5. Limit your use of video rental services through your cable company. Services such as pay-per-view for special events and video-on-demand can add to your cable costs. Using an unlimited video rental service or choosing a premium subscription service may cost you less over the course of a month than purchasing individual rentals.
