Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Take care when loading grocery bags. You want to make sure that each individual bag is not too heavy. If a bag is too heavy it may break, which will only make carrying groceries home more difficult. It would be no fun to have to pick up a dropped bag of groceries.
Step2
Choose the correct grocery bag for your needs. Plastic bags may be easiest to carry home because they have handles. Paper bags may be another option as well. Some paper bags even have handles. Alternatively, a fabric tote bag may also work well because it will be easy to carry and it's environmentally friendly.
Step3
Consider using a grocery bag grip. Grocery bag grips are small metal handles similar to carabiners. Slip several grocery bags over each handle and you'll be surprised how many bags you can easily carry. Purchase grocery bag grips online (see Resources below).
Step4
Buy a collapsible grocery cart if you have a lot of groceries to carry home. The carts collapse almost flat and can then be used to transport all of your groceries home. Collapsible grocery carts can be purchased online or in hardware stores.
Step5
Invite someone to go shopping with you. This will give you extra hands for carrying your groceries home. You can take a family member with you or you can even ask a neighbor to come help you with your groceries.
