How to Reset FiOS TV

If you have FiOS TV, you are probably enjoying the clear pictures and stunning sound that the fiber optic network provides, not to mention all of the channels and On Demand titles available at any given time. However, sometimes you may run in to problems with your FiOS TV, and resetting the router and/or set-top box is an easy way to solve many common issues.

Instructions

  1. Overall Process for Resetting FiOS TV

    • 1

Determine if your problem is one that can be resolved by resetting your FiOS TV. Common issues that can be helped by resetting include problems with the Interactive Programming Guide, On Demand programs or DVR recording, missing menus or an unresponsive set-top box.

    • 2

Reset the router first, to see if that will solve the problem.

    • 3

Reset the set-top box, if resetting the router failed to solve the issue.

    • 4

Call customer support if resetting both the router and the set-top box failed to solve the problems with your FiOS TV. Your set-top box may need to be re-initialized, or there may be a network issue. Customer support can assist you with these advanced problems.

    Resetting the Router

    • 5

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

    • 6

Leave it unplugged for a full 15 seconds.

    • 7

Plug the electrical cord back into the wall outlet.

    • 8

      Wait 30 more seconds.

    • 9

Re-try your FiOS TV to see if resetting the router solved the problem.

    Resetting the Set-Top Box

    • 10

Check to see if the coaxial cable is securely fastened into the set-top box. If it's loose or not pushed in all the way, fix it.

    • 11

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

    • 12

Leave it unplugged for a full 15 seconds.

    • 13

Plug the electrical cord back into the wall outlet.

    • 14

Wait until the set-top box shows the time.

    • 15

      Power on the set-top box.

    • 16

      Wait several more minutes.

    • 17

Re-try your FiOS TV to see if resetting the set-top box solved the problem.

ave come out with an affordable tivo hd dvr for $250, which thankfully frees from the 'tude' and lies that have been non stop since last thursday (three days and counting) when the fios box woke me out of a sound sleep at 2 am turning on and off on and off on and off

MAY be a problem with the equipment?? it's more than the equipment at this point... true the signal is good, but if you value your personal time and how you are treated by fios customer service, get rid of their set top boxes (particularly the dvr). I have been without service for 3 days, still don't have service with more promises to show up again today with a new dvr. i have been lied to and left potentially without service for at least a week. when my interactive menu failed they thought shipping me another box sometime up to a week later was the solution. when i complained they set up an appointment, confirmed it, didn't show, and then claimed there never was one. fortunately it's a free market. it is sunday morning and here i waste yet another weekend day without service and waiting on them... until abe's of maine opens in edison nj. then it's tivo time... yes virginia, they h
