The Air Force is a branch of the United States military committed to air and space defense. The Air Force has bases across America, as well as many overseas bases. These bases house, educate and train many of the Air Force employees, both civilian and military. Locate and tour an Air Force base near you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Locate the base phone numbers on the base website. Call the base's Public Affairs department to sign up for a tour. Check into private group tours and availability for schools or groups. Some bases require a minimum age.
Step2
Expect to provide your full name and portions of your social security number. Most bases require advance sign-ups of two weeks or more to accommodate record keeping and background checks.
Step3
Check with your base for additional base-specific requirements. Some bases may not allow cameras, cell phones or food and drink.
Step4
For overseas base information, contact the Air Force in Europe headquarters located in Ramstein, Germany.
Step5
Go to the Air Force website (see Resources below) to find an Air Force base. Select "Base Locator" on the bottom of the main page. Click on the "Base URL" link when you choose your base to visit the base website.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some Air Force bases (those with only office buildings, for example) do not offer tours.
  • To avoid suspicion or removal from the base, do not bring firearms, explosives, illegal substances, or other banned or questionable items.
