    Logon to Maryland's official Motor Vehicle Administration website at marylandmva.com.

    Click on "Vehicle Services" and "Specialty Plates."

  3. Step 3

    Select a category of specialty license plates that you are interested in obtaining. Choose from "Amateur Radio Operator Registration," "Military Related" or "Organizational."

  4. Step 4

    Browse through plates within the categories. View sample images and read about eligibility requirements, fees and customization options.

    Decide on a specialty license plate. Gather all eligibility documentation for your plate, as required. If your specialty license plate has an application under its description, download and complete it.

    Locate a Tag and Title Service agent. Verify that the agent offers specialty license plate services.

  7. Step 7

    Go to the Tag and Title Service agent with your eligibility documentation and completed application.

  8. Step 8

    Inform the service agent of the type of specialty license plate that you are interested in. Present your eligibility documentation and the downloaded application. Complete any supplementary applications that the agent provides.

    Submit all applications and eligibility documentation to the service agent. Make a check payable to the person or agency specified by the agent.
