There are many benefits to carrying a Discover card, not the least of which is that the card has no annual fee. The card also offers a variety of cash-back bonus options, a low APR and the capability to manage your account online. You can also apply for the Discover credit card online with relative ease, as long as you know ahead of time what you want from the card.

Prepare to Apply for a Discover Card

  1. Step 1

Decide what features are important to you in a Discover card. The company offers four primary types of cards: the More, the Motiva, the Open Road and the Miles card, all of which have different primary benefits. The varied benefits include a 5-percent cash-back bonus, a return of interest as a pay-on-time reward or travel rewards with limited or no restrictions.

  2. Step 2

Use one of the recommended browsers (if applying online) to view and submit all information. This will allow you to take full advantage of the security features.

  3. Step 3

Perform a side-by-side comparison of the available cards. The Discover card website provides a chart that shows all the details of the offered cards so you can see how they differ (see Resources below).
