Whether for Christmas or any other time of the year, you can make these paper angels to give your home a heavenly touch. This is a great project to do with your children. It's fast and easy, and in no time you can have a whole host of angels adorning your home.
Things You'll Need
- Construction paper or other kind of sturdy paper
- Cone-shaped paper cup
- Hot glue gun
- Buttons in flesh colors
- Markers or paint pens in multiple colors
- Black felt-tip pen (optional)
- Felt (optional)
Use the cardboard to make templates for the wings and arms. Draw a standard pair of wings (attached in the center) for your template; size does not necessarily matter, but they should be a size that is appropriate for the size of the body. The piece for the arms should be approximately 2 ½ inches by 5 inches.
Cut the paper cup down the center so that it lays flat. Place it on top of your paper then trace around it and cut it out. This will be the body for the angel.
Wrap the body around so that the edges meet. Use the hot glue gun to secure the edges together. You should now have a cone resembling the original paper cup.
Place the templates you made for the wings and arms onto the construction paper. Trace around them then cut them out.
Center the wings on the back of the body, just below the pointed tip, then glue them in place.
Roll or fold the piece for the arms so that you have a long, thin tube. You may need to use a little glue to keep the edges together. Hot glue the middle of the piece onto the back of the body, beneath the wings. Position the arms as you want them and then glue them into place.
Decorate a button, using the markers or paint pens, to resemble a face and hair then glue it to the top of the body, on the point.
Tips & Warnings
- Use white construction paper for the body and wings to make them look more angelic.
- Decorate the body and wings of the angel with gold glitter, sequins or any other decorative touch you can think of.
- Make a miniature hymnal or harp to place in the angel's hands. Outline it with a black felt-tip pen to give it definition then attach it to the hands with the hot glue gun.
- Use felt to make a skirt, sash, bow tie or other piece of clothing for your angel and use the glue gun to attach it.
