How to Apply to Juilliard

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Submit proof that you completed high school or the equivalent. Secondary education transcripts are required if applicable. Home-schooled applicants must submit the Home Schooling Information Form.
Step2
Furnish a Letter of Recommendation. A letter from a faculty member in the English, history or performing arts Department is preferred. The home-schooled applicant should offer a letter from someone other than his parents who can attest to his academic ability and achievement.
Step3
Include TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) results with your application if English is not your native language, regardless of your citizenship. A minimum score of 200 is required.
Step4
Know the application deadlines for your chosen school (music, dance or drama). Complete and submit all necessary forms and supporting documents before that date.
Step5
Understand that there is a competitive audition that accompanies the application process. The Committee on Admissions selects students based on the application and individual audition.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be aware that you can only apply for admission to the dance and music programs two times if you are not accepted the first time. The drama program allows three chances at acceptance.
  • You can only begin Juilliard in the fall semester. Transfer students can't start in the middle of the school year.
