A gas grill can be a great addition to your backyard. It will provide you with another cooking method that gives your food a flavor your stove and oven will not produce. If your home has an outside gas connection, you can hook your grill up to it, or if you don't have one, you can use a propane tank to fuel your grill. Read on to learn how to install a gas grill.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Wood
  • Grill
  • Stones or tile
  • Grout
  • Trowel
  • Nails
  • Hammer
  • Gas line

Step1
Select a location for your grill. It should be away from any dry material like leaves. Keep it away from anything that is easily combustible. Clear an area that will be safe and still allow you to socialize with your family and friends while you cook.
Step2
Build an encasement for your grill. This will make the grill a permanent and aesthetically pleasing addition to your yard. You can make a stone wall to house it, or you can build a cabinet out of treated wood and tiles.
Step3
Be certain that when you build your grill's home that you leave a place for the propane tank or for the gas hook up. If you are using propane, you can store the tank in a cabinet. It you are using a gas line, then you can make a hole in the bottom of the cabinet for the gas line to come through and attach to the grill or you can have it attach from outside of the grill's encasement.
Step4
Make sure that everything is in working order before you cover your encasement in stones or tiles. Doing so now can save you potential headaches in the future. You don't want to have to take the grill out of its encasement just because you failed to test it beforehand. Check your hoses to make sure that they are properly attached.
Step5
Attach tiles or stone to the outside of the encasement. Select a look that is pleasing to the eye and compliments the rest of your yard.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your flames are low, inspect the burner for spider webs. They may be blocking your gas flow.
  • Check with your local fire department to make sure that your plans are compliant with your area's laws.
