How to Play the Card Game Pig

The card game Pig is tons of fun when a lot of people play. Keep your eye on everyone else's nose in this game so you don't make a pig of yourself.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• 4 to 13 players
• A deck of cards

Set Up

1. Remove a set of four of the same number or face card from the deck for each player. It doesn't matter what you choose. Set aside the rest of the deck-use only the sets you've removed for the game.
2. Cut and shuffle the cards.
3. Deal the cards out to all the players. Each player should have four cards each.

Play the Game

4. Put your cards in order in your hand so that the matching cards are together.
5. Quickly pick one card you don't wish to keep, along with everyone else, and put it face down on your left hand side after the dealer says, "Go!" You're trying to get four matching cards, so only put down one that doesn't match anything you have.
6. Pick up the card the person to your right has laid down. If it matches anything in your hand, put it next to the card or cards without letting anyone see.
7. Choose another card to pass to the left when dealer says, "Go!" Keep doing this until someone gets four matching cards.
8. Put your finger on the tip of your nose as soon as you get all four matching cards. After seeing you with your finger on your nose, everyone else must put their finger on their nose as well.
9. Earn a P if you are the last person to put your finger on your nose. You must leave the game when you have earned all three letters P–I–G by being the last person to put your finger on your nose three times.
10. Win the game by being the only one in the room who isn't a pig.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't say anything when you have your finger on your nose. Wait to see how long it takes for everyone to notice.
• Do not pick up your new card until after you pass the unwanted card from your hand.
• Don't study your cards too much or you'll raise your head to see everyone staring at you with their fingers on their noses.
