Step 1
Buy a gun for squirrel hunting. Follow state gun laws and regulations when doing so. Two guns are generally used for squirrel hunting: a .22 caliber rifle or a small gauge shotgun.
-
Step 2
Find a place to hunt squirrels. Squirrels can be found in most wooded areas where there are nut trees like oaks or hickory trees. They also eat berries. Make sure the land is open for squirrel hunting and not privately owned land. If hunting on private land, get permission from the owner to hunt squirrels.
-
Step 3
Wear a camouflage hat, shirt and pants. Bring a squirrel call, gun and ammunition. These things aren't all necessary, but aid in getting more squirrels.
-
Step 4
Stalk squirrels by walking slowly and quietly. Be on the lookout for squirrels on the ground and in trees. When squirrels are frightened they normally freeze or move closer to the trunk of the tree.
-
Step 5
Sit in one spot and wait for squirrels to come to you. Find a good tree with nuts, and there will be squirrels close by.
