Gone are the days of vinyl. But you can still manage to get all your vinyls onto CD. Whether your a DJ and wanting to record a mix, or an oldie wanting to copy your faverouite Beatles song, this is how to copy vinyls easily
A mini jack to phono cable. The mini jack is on the right, the phono on the left
Buy a Mini-jack (the same connection that fits into your MP3 player headphones socket) to phono (the socket at the back of your turntable) cable. These can be bought from the website down at the tips section at the bottom.
Step2
Plug the two-ended end of the cable (The phono connection) into your mixer or turntable. If your using a mixer, its best to use the 'Record' output.
Step3
Plug the other end (mini-jack) into the microphone/record socket on your computer.
Step4
Switch on your computer and open up the recording progam.
Step5
Switch on your turntable/mixer. Place the needle at the start of the song.
Step6
Press Record and record 5 seonds of the song. Keep repeating this step, adjusting the volume levels using the volume control - or make the sound better using the EQ on the mixer - to make the sound perfect.
Step7
Cue up the start of the song, press record and start the song. When the song/mix is finished, press Stop Record.
Step8
You can now burn the song file on your computer to a CD.
Tips & Warnings
A Dj can use the cable for other things, such as using your MP3 Player on your mixer (mini-jack goes into MP3 Player, phono goes into mixer).
You can record sound from movies to your computer. Plug the mini jack into your computer and the phono into your DVD player/TV/VHS machine.
