Step 1
Buy a file format converter program from an electronics store or website. Read the product features to confirm that the software can convert MP4 files to MP3. Another option is to download a free trial version from the Internet and try before you buy.
-
Step 2
Install the converter software to your computer and follow all the prompts to set up the program. After the program is installed, restart your computer.
-
Step 3
Create a folder on your desktop and enter the MP4 audio and video files you wish to convert to MP3 format. Run the converter software and follow the directions to convert the files one-by-one or as a group. Choose a conversion rate from the options provided or use the software's default conversion rate.
-
Step 4
Set up a pop-up window to alert you when the file conversion finishes. Use the preferences toolbar option in the software.
-
Step 5
Save the converted MP3 files in a separate folder and rename them if you like. Listen to the audio files and note the quality of the sound. If the quality is below your standards, convert the MP4 files at a different rate.

on 8/10/2007 I used SoundTaxi before I find NoteBurner. NoteBurner is great, especially its virtual burning concept.
