Using sweets to decorate during the holidays brings a child-like element to the season while filling the air with delicious scents. Gingerbread houses and candy canes bring this sugary motif alive; learn how to decorate your Christmas tree with candy and sweets.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hang candy canes and other peppermint pleasures from the branches of your tree for a sweet red and white effect.

  2. Step 2

String caramel corn, gum drops, caramels, dried candied fruit or other soft candies along a string to use as a garland about the tree.

  3. Step 3

Pin varieties of candies to a Styrofoam sphere, covering all sides of the ball. String an ornament hanger to the ball and have a three-dimensional candy ball.

  4. Step 4

Make popcorn balls and add a ribbon or string to make the crunchy balls into ornaments. The light color will contrast nicely with the dark tree.

  5. Step 5

Bake cookies. Gingerbread or shortbread cookies are ideal. Use cookie cutters to shape your cookies. Use the end of a pencil or pen to create a small hole at the top of each cookie before it bakes. You'll run a string through that hole and hang the confections from your tree. Use colorful, edible glitter icing to top off each cookie.

  6. Step 6

Use fine wire to attach giant colorful lollipops to your tree's branches.
